Plainview Schools Closed Monday as Hurricane Approaches

All classes and after-school activities cancelled; LIRR stops running tonight at 7.

The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District has cancelled all classes Monday in advance of an expected windswept onslaught from Hurricane Sandy.

The closing was announced just after 1:30 p.m. Sunday on the district's website.

The closing includes all morning and after school programs.

Meanwhile, as the Plainview area prepares for the impact of the hurricane, the MTA announced that it will shut down its entire system beginning Sunday night.

That will impact LIRR trains to Hicksville and Bethpage. The last train to Hicksville from New York is scheduled to leave Penn Station at about 6:15 p.m. The system is scheduled to be shuttered by 7 p.m.
