Plainview JFK Junior Raymond Kim is a semifinalist in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

Junior Raymond Kim has been named a semifinalist in 2012 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

Kim is one of 1.5 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools nationwide entered the 2012 Merit Program by taking 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

The highest scores were selected as semifinalists. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to be finalists, making them eligible to receive state, corporate and college scholarships totaling more than $34 million.
