Plainview Water District Celebrates Water Conservation

Commissioners Honor Winners of 2012 Poster Contest.

The recently recognized the winners of the 2012 Water Conservation Poster Contest during an honorary awards ceremony.

“My fellow commissioners and I are extremely proud of the enthusiasm exhibited by the students in our community who participated in this year’s contest,” said Board of Commissioners , who serves on the board with Joel Kessler and Edward Shulroff. 

“It is a truly rewarding experience to see these children understand the importance of not wasting our precious natural resource.”

For over 20 years, the Plainview Water District has been involved with Plainview-Old Bethpage students as part of an overall public awareness campaign to help protect its local natural water supply, officials said.

Every year, students are invited to create their own posters expressing their answer in an artistic and creative way addressing the question: “What do I like about water and why we need to conserve this precious resource?”

The winners of the 2012 Water Conservation Poster Contest are as follows:

  • First Grade:  Zoe Wang, Morgan Passolo, Brandon Cohen
  • Second Grade: Jamie Waldman, Sabrina Aldorisio, Joel Thomson
  • Third Grade: Amanda Kang, Ananya Krishnamurthee, Silvana Bartolotta
  • Fourth Grade: Lauren Park, Skylar Musick, Ryan Kim
  • Fifth Grade: Suanna Cheng, Alyssa Moskowitz, Michael Muhlbach
  • Sixth Grade: Nicole Harrington, Corinne Badeer, Alyssa Tollefsen
