Power Restored at Schools, Move-In Resumes

Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School and Mattlin Middle School have regained power. All planned activities resume today.

Power has been restored at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School and Mattlin Middle School as of last night, according to the school district's website.

All scheduled activities will take place as previously planned today, including the Middle School's fifth and sixth grade locker move-in. The move-in is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until 11 a.m.

According to school district officials, the High School regained power yesterday at 6 p.m. and the Middle School at 5:30 p.m.

Patch reported Wednesday evening that both schools were closed because of a power failure. The offices for those schools were temporarily moved to Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School.

As of Wednesday evening, the school district's website confirmed move-in cancellations. The district office could not be reached by phone Wednesday, with calls immediately going to the district's voicemail retrieval system.
