March 2 is Dr. Seuss' birthday, and one way to celebrate the man who may have been your first favorite author is to take part in Read Across America day.
This year, the National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, is calling on book lovers around the nation to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment. Dr. Seuss was the pen name for Theodor Seuss Geisel, who published 46 children's books, including "Green Eggs and Ham" and "The Cat and the Hat."
