Seventeen Plainview Music Students Named 'All State'

Students demonstrate superior musical proficiency.

Seventeen Plainview JFK students have been recognized for excellence and named to "All-State" music ensembles.

In announcing the winners, the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District   said the designation is given to students who demonstrated a superior level of singing or instrumental ability at the 2012 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Solo Festival.

Every spring, more than 7,000 selected high school students compete at NYSSMA to be chosen for 890 positions available for the eight All-State ensembles. The Plainview students assigned to the band, chorus, orchestra and jazz ensembles have earned a spot to perform in Rochester at the NYSSMA All-State Conference in December.
