Students Look To Future At 'Career Cafe'

More than 150 students at Mattlin Middle School participate in program with more than 50 professionals.

More than 150 7th graders got a glimpse at the future as the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District held its first Career Cafe of the year.

The morning session on Nov. 17 at the Mattlin Middle School was hosted by Business Teacher Scott Lieberman in conjunction with the district's Business Department / Internship Programs.

At this event, 7th graders were matched with their career interests based on an earlier survey. During the event they met with professionals in three different career areas for round-table discussions.

Lieberman said he was grateful for the community's participation and the district's support. "It is important to bridge the gap between education and careers to better prepare our students for tomorrow's challenges," Lieberman said.
