1. The first of several benefits for , a Plainview JFK freshman stricken with cancer, will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the headquarters on Old Country Road. Registering for the bone marrow drive involves some paperwork and a cotton swab of your mouth. The more people who get registered, the better the chances of finding a match. 2. U.S. Senator and are holding a discussion Tuesday about federal legislation and the future of Long Island Sound. We'll have a report later.

3. The spring break vacation enters its final weekend. There's a event at the Nassau Museum of Art for children and their adult companions. There's plenty of other options listed in our calendar.

4. New members are welcome to the which meets from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays in the All-Purpose Room at the Jamaica Avenue school. Members must be 60 and reside in the POB school district. Dues are $20.
