Today's 5: Short School Week Begins

If you're over 18, you can sign up for an ice hockey league.

This will be a short week for local students, who will have a four-day weekend beginning Thursday for the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

On Monday:

1. The 2011 Island Ice Hockey Fall season starts Sept. 30th. Island Ice Hockey is a league for adults looking to play competitive as well as recreational ice hockey games. The 12-game season runs until Jan. 15. Cost: $355. There are divisions for beginers to advanced players. Over-18, over-25 and over-40 divisions.

2. Syosset High School travels to for a girls soccer match. Game time: 4:30 p.m.

3.The holds its free Zumba dance and exercise class, hosted by  Carol Rodriguez, at 4:45 p.m.

4. As always, the libary has lots to offer. Need help reading: sponsors a free program at 1 p.m. where tutors help people become better readers.
