Young People Ask Good Questions at Plainview Career Day

Middle School hosts multiple sessions where Kids explore opportunities.

For journalists, it's always interesting when someone else is asking the questions. And when the questions come from kids, the answers become really important.

Last week's "Career Cafe" at involved hundreds of young people asking adults about what they do for a living. About 50 adults volunteered for the program, including Nassau County police officers, doctors, members of the U.S Coast Guard, journalists and Nassau County Legislator  ( D-Woodbury.)

The well-organized program had the young people rotating through three rapid-fire sessions focused on different career paths. At the "communications" table, they asked questions of three journalists from They included:

The questions reminded the news people why they became news people in the first place.

Legislator Jacobs said the kids asked insightful questions, particularly about the role of women in government.

Students from both middle schools participated in the program at the Plainview Middle School.
