Plainview Moms Start Business That's All About Saving Time

'It's in the Bag Errands' is a personal concierge service that does the running around for you.

Did you ever feel like there's not enough time in the day?

You're not alone, and two Plainview entrepreneurs have teamed up to form a unique business to serve time-crunched Plainview-area residents and professionals.

Just this month, Erika Hecker and Michelle Storch started the business to help resolve a growing problem: Professionals and families are busier than ever and cannot find enough time to take care of all of their tasks on their own.

The two Plainview moms formed "It’s in the Bag Errands," a personal concierge and errand service. The pair will take care of shopping and related chores for residents in Plainview and neighboring towns.

Patch asked the Erika and Michelle how they came upon the idea and how it's working:

Q. Where did you get the idea?

A. “As moms ourselves we know how busy everyone’s lives get," Hecker said. “So many moms say there is so much to do and not enough hours in the day. We made it our goal to help them alleviate some of the pressure by helping with their daily tasks.”. Storch added,

Q. Are you also reaching the needs of the aging community?

A. "For the senior community, it allows them to get their tasks done without feeling like a burden on friends or family," Storch said. "It’s a win-win for all involved.”

Q. What services do you offer?

A. (We) provide an array of services to give to anyone- from busy professionals, to mothers of young children to seniors who could use a hand with the daily tasks…just enough to feel like things are under control. We provide holiday and gift shopping, trips to the dry cleaners, shopping at Costco/BJ’s, picking up and delivering pharmacy orders, grocery shopping, post office tasks, making returns to various stores.

Q. What does your service cost?

A. $25 an hour, with specials and discounts on our Facebook page.

Q. What has surprised you about the business?

A. "Many people have told us that the service is actually saving them money, because when we go to the store we actually stick to their lists," said Hecker. "When people do their own shopping, they go through the aisles and pick out all sorts of things not on the list."
