10K Runners to Charge Through Plainview Sunday

34th annual run for ASPIRE will draw hundreds of runners this morning.

Plainview and Old Bethpage will become a race course for the 34th annual 10K for ASPIRE, a major event of the Greater Long Island Running Club's season that will draw hundreds of runners Sunday morning. The race kicks off at 9 a.m. and should be all over before noon.

The route makes a big loop south along Washington Avenue and Plainview Road, crosses through Old Bethpage to Round Swamp Road and then back to , where it all began. If you're . Some roads will be closed and traffic held up. If you're heading up Washington Avenue to Mass at (for the 8:30 or 10:30 a.m.) or the worship services at (8 and 10:30 p.m.) leave extra time.

The streets of Plainview will be filled with runners Sunday morning as the 10K Run for ASPIRE kicks off from the  at 9 a.m. The proceeds from the 10K (6.2 mile) race benefit ASPIRE and will include hundreds of runners. A one mile Fun Run for children starts at 9:15 a.m. The event ends with cupcakes and post-race refreshments.

2. In a spin on the original "Twister" game, the , holds a giant Twister party from 2:30–4:30 p.m. Sunday where everyone plays and the last one standing gets a prize. Open to all; non-members: $6. 

3. The NYCB Theatre at Westbury presents '60s icon Frankie Valle and the Four Seasons Sunday evening at 7. $71.50, $61.50, $46.50

4. The Nassau County in Roslyn has lots to offer, including a display of the poster art of the 1917 October Revolution. These graphic, inexpensively produced posters carried the Revolution’s message to the masses. Open from 11:00 a.m.–4:45 p.m.
