Champion Jockey Ramon Dominguez To Appear At Race Palace

2010 Eclipse Award Winner for Outstanding Jockey to appear July 13 to meet his fans, and raise awareness for disabled jockeys.

Horse racing fans will have a chance to meet one of the stars of the sport of kings this week, when champion jockey Ramon Dominguez stops by the Race Palace on Wednesday.

Dominguez is the 2010 recipient of the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey. He's notched over 4300 career wins since emigrating here from his native Venezuela. Most recently, he tied an NYRA record by winning six races in one day at Belmont this past June. He rode Mucho Macho Man in the Belmont Stakes, finishing 7th.

Dominguez will be signing autographs at the Race Palace, with the first 100 fans receiving a free photo to get signed.

2012 Jockeys Calendars will be sold, with proceeds benefiting the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund. The charity raises money for jockeys that have suffered catastrophic injuries on the track. They have raised over $2 million since 2006.

Dominguez is scheduled to appear from 5 to 6 pm this Wednesday, with free admission till 6. Patch will be on hand to speak to Dominguez about his career and this worthwhile cause.

The definition of STOP in the driving world is " the complete cessation of movement".Read More Sound like many people think STOP signs mean 1. Slow To Observe Police or 2. Slightly Touch On (brake) pedal. Time to go to traffic school online at www.oltep.com. Relearn what you forgot from Driver's Ed. Stay Safe

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
