Plainview Boys, Girls Soccer Teams, Boys Volleyball on a Roll

Three teams earn the praise of district and its superintendent.

Plainview Schools Superintendent Dr. Lorna Lewis issued a congratulatory letter to the community Monday on the recent successes of three Plainview Hawks teams.

Both the Girls and the Boys Varsity soccer teams achieved victories this weekend in the Nassau County Class AA playoffs.

The Girls Soccer team defeated Farmingdale 1-0 on Jennifer Wallach's goal. Barbara Bader had the assist. Alana Cohen saved five shots.

The victory represents the first playoff victory in at least 15 years for the girls soccer team, which takes on Calhoun High School Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised by Verizon FIOS 1

Meanwhile, the Boys Soccer team continued its winning streak on Saturday night with a dramatic come-from-behind victory against Great Neck South.

Adam Gross scored the game winner in the second overtime to seal the win. Josh Schwartz had one goal and an assist. The Boys team plays its next game is Wednesday vs. Massapequa at Burns Park at 5 p.m.

Dr. Lewis also praised the Boys Volleyball team for making the playoffs. Plainview will host the playoff game on Oct. 31 with a team and time to be determined later.
