Football and an array of fall sports will be returning to Plainview JFK in a matter of weeks.
And Plainview school officials say their new turf field is on schedule to be ready for the varsity's home football opener on Thursday, Sept. 12, against Farmingdale.
At Monday's Board of Education meeting, Ryan Ruf, the district's assistant superintendent for business, said work was progressing on time for the installation of the underground drainage units and the grading necessary for the field (see photos.)
Ruf said the district is working with LIPA to get final wiring completed for the lighting. The first night game at the new turf field is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday Sept. 20, against Hicksville.
