Plainview's Klarfeld Wins Big in 5-Mile Event

The 31 year old Klarfeld took the lead from the start and was never headed, racing to a 31:57, comfortably in front of runner-up Patricia Brims of Jersey City, who scored in 32:59. The race took place at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford.

The race was the third in a series leading up to the It was conducted by the under the auspices of Nassau County and the Friends of Nassau Recreation. The fourth and final race in the series is a 4-mile event scheduled for Saturday April 28 at Eisenhower Park.

“This is a great new concept that has been long overdue,” said Walter Kueffner of the Running Club, who heads the Race Committee. “We thank County Executive and the County Parks Department for cooperating in adding all these new programs leading up to the Long Island Marathon, and we are thrilled that so accomplished a runner as Shari Klarfeld was on hand to help us celebrate this great series.”

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
