It's opening day of school in the Good luck to all Plainview-area students.
Here's five quick things to know about the first weeks of school:
1. There's a new schools superintendent. She is , who began her tenure atop the district in August. She replaces longtime Superintendent who has retired.
2. The kids might have something to say about changes to the Then again, they may not notice. Here's some on the changes.
3. The at are under renovation. Students will have to adjust somewhat until the work is completed, probably by October.
4. The courtyards at both and are under restoration, including the reconstruction of concrete walls and installation of new drainage at POB Middle School and installation of additional concrete walks and proper drainage at Mattlin.
5. and are receiving ventilation systems in the main administration areas and the district is replacing the gymnasium windows.
