Plainview Whiz Kid: Shane Lovisi

Each week, will feature one student from the community who has done something special. This week, Plainview Patch is highlighting Plainview JFK star, Shane Lovisi.

Name: Shane Lovisi

Age: 18

School: 

Accomplishment: Lovisi is one of the Plainview Hawk's varsity baseball team's starting pitchers. In the first matchup of a three game series against Herricks High School, Lovisi only gave up four hits and one run to his opponents through seven innings. Earlier in the season, he threw eight strikeouts and allowed only six hits against Farmingdale.

Key to Awesomeness: Baseball is the only sport he plays in high school, and after 15 years of playing, Lovisi has grown and developed as an individual player and pitcher.

"It's not as high intensity as other sports," he said. "It's laid back and I can hang out with my team and have fun."

This season is his second on the varsity squad, and the senior spoke very highly of the guidance he gets from his head coach, Justin Szwejkowski.

"He always makes us work harder, and he teaches us a lot about the game," Lovisi said.
