Plainview-area Triathletes Invited to Free Clinic

Plainview Library to host event on May 19.

Triathletes of all ages and levels of ability are cordially invited to join the The Greater Long Island Running Club is sponsoring a clinic in May to help prepare triathletes prepare for the Runner’s Edge - TOBAY Triathlon Clinic.

The clinic will be held in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Road in nearby Plainview, on Thursday May 19 promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Organizers said the program will be invaluable for first time triathletes as well as for those veterans who would like their performance to improve dramatically.

Highlights will include a review of the course layout, training programs, and other key ingredients of a successful triathlon experience.

The clinic will be led by Coach Jose Lopez, who has been the overall winner of several triathlons and duathlons, including the first TOBAY Triathlon in 1988.  Jose is a Level II USA Triathlon Coach with over 25 years of experience in competing and coaching. 

He will be assisted by the staff of Long Island Tri Coach, including veteran triathlete and coach Bob Cook, the proprietor of Triathlon title sponsor The Runner’s Edge on Main Street in Farmingdale.

Although this cinic is specifically geared toward those who will be competing in the Aug. 24 Runner’s Edge -TOBAY Triathlon, it will be of benefit to anyone who is doing any triathlon this year!.
