Organizers of Sunday's 10K Race for ASPIRE are urging Plainview residents to be aware of the runners who will be all over the community beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday.
The map of the race route, which begins and ends at Mattlin Middle School, is attached. See our earlier story here.
In addition to the hundreds of participants, Plainview will be visited by "running royalty." One of the honorary race starters will be Nina Kuscsik, the first woman to run in the NYC Marathon, the first female winner of the Boston Marathon.
Kuscsik is a two time winner of the NYC Marathon and a pioneer who is known for her work in introducing changes in athletic rules to allow women to run the marathon distance in the United States and to hold US Championships. Nina is a member of the Long Distance Running Hall of Fame and was inducted into the New York Road Runners Hall of Fame in 2012
Local residents are encouraged to come out and meet her!
Good luck to all the runners and participants.
