RunNassau Series Kicks Off Saturday

The new RunNassau Series of races leading up to the Long Island Marathon/Half Marathon/10K will kick off this Saturday with a 5 Kilometer race on the grounds of the

Runners and walkers of all ages and levels of ability are invited to join Nassau County Executive and the in starting off the local running season.

You can sign up Saturday morning to enter the entire four race series for $55, or you can sign up for just the Old Bethpage Race for only $15. Day-of-race registration will be open from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Saturday, with the starting horn sounding at 9 a.m.

Organizers said Friday that the rain-wet snow prediction overnight is not likely to cause the postponement of the event. If the weather is significantly worse than the forecast, organizers will send out an email notice at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

The competition will feature awards to the top three male and female open and masters runners, plus the top three male and female finishers in five-year age groups running from 14 and under through 85 and over.
