Running Club to Host Injury, Prevention Clinic

March 19 meeting to include panel of experts.

The featured program at the Tuesday evening, March 19, Open General Meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club will be a Clinic on Injury Prevention and Recovery.

The Meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Road in Plainview, starting promptly at 8 p.m. The general public is invited to attend.

The Clinic will be staffed by a distinguished panel of professionals that includes:

  • Dr. Edward Fryman, Podiatrist, Seaford Foot Care Center, Medical Director of  the Long Island Marathon;
  • Dr. Steven Jonas, Chiropractor, Jonas Chiropractic in Syosset, Co-Director Injury Prevention/Race Recovery, Long Island Marathon;
  • Heather Williams, Physical Therapist, Northport Physical Therapy, GLIRC 2012 Women’s Gold Medal Champion Runner;
  • Debbie Blair, Coach and Personal Trainer, Director of Nassau County’s RunSmart Program.

The clinic is designed to present Long Island runners with everything they need to know about preventing running injuries and, if they are unfortunate to suffer an injury, the surest and fastest ways of recovering from it. Questions will be accepted by the panelists from the audience.
