Boys and girls varsity basketball teams participate in Coaches vs. Cancer
Many times during the basketball season, fans will see college coaches wearing sneakers during some of their games. Well,Plainview-JFK coaches are continuing the tradition, and its not just for comfort.
Plainview-JFK once again participated in Coaches vs. Cancer, a program and fundraiser which helps raise money and awareness for cancer. It was a double header with the boys playing first, followed by the girls.
Coaches vs. Cancer was started by formed University of Missouri head coach and cancer survivor, Norm Stewart. In 1993, Coaches vs. Cancer became a nationwide effort to fight cancer. Colleges and high schools, like Plainview-JFK has raised close to $50 million so far.

To do their part, on both the girls and boys teams raised money and wore pink to represent the fight. Coaches of course, wore their sneakers.
