Making a Statement of the State of the State

Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York mentioned the importance of early childhood education and its impact on school success in his recent State of the State address.

Tis the season for State of the State addresses.  It was quite remarkable that Governor Cuomo of New York specifically mentioned the importance of early childhood education and its impact on school success and a more productive life in his recent address.  His budget went on to commit $25 million to the creation of full-day pre-K programs in high needs communities.  Governor Cuomo’s support is welcomed, and not surprising given the strong support for early learning expressed by his Education Reform Commission in their recent report.  Read more
