2nd Annual NORC Walk This Sunday

The event at the POB Middle School is sponsored by the Y JCC to benefit Plainview seniors.

The  sponsors its second-annual Neighborhood NORC Walk Sunday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the to benefit a wide variety of senior programs in the community.

(Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities) is a program of the Y JCC. Special features will be entertainment, music, food and refreshments, raffles and prizes.  The goal of the POB NORC's walk is to:  "Provide services necessary to help seniors live healthier, more independent lives within their own homes and community."

These services include:

  • In-home nursing 
  • Social work 
  • Supportive counseling  
  • Patient advocacy 
  • Transportation to medical appointments  
  • Shopping for and with clients 
  • Friendly visiting 
  • Health information

The program  is dedicated to enabling seniors to remain in their homes. "Without your support these critical services would not be available to our most vulnerable community members," according to organizers a NORC.
