'Friday Night Live' to Premier at Manetto Hill Jewish Center

June calendar also includes a 4-part Shabbat “Mommy & Me” program.

Two special programs are on the June calendar at the in Plainview.

The progressive congregation affiliated with the Conservative Movement will host its first musical Shabbat experience. "Friday Night Live" focuses on bringing together people of all levels of observance and religious practice, encouraging them to embrace community through a comfortable Friday night interaction.

The Friday Night Live Musical Shabbat Experience, set for Friday evening June 22 at 8 p.m. is neither a concert nor a traditional service. It is an invigorating Shabbat gathering at which the past meets the present, blending the familiar with the new, bringing people closer to the beauty of our traditions and each other.

Familiar melodies intermingled with contemporary‐style music and song will motivate everyone to “let loose” and join in singing. This new style Shabbat experience provides that extra special opportunity to join friends, old and new, connecting with each other and our heritage through the sound of accompanied singing.

will officiate at services together with guest Cantor Judy Merrick. Cantor Merrick began her career as an Israeli folk singer. In 2006 she released her first album, "Journey". In 2010 Cantor Merrick created and produced "Remember Us Unto Life", the celebration of the long lost music of Hazzan Shmuel Blasz, who perished in Auschwitz. She performs at concerts and music festivals in many area venues including the Folk Music Showcase.

The membership committee will sponsor a pre-service Nosh & Smooze dessert reception at 7 p.m.  Please join us to learn more about
