Good Shepherd to Host Concert for Needy Thursday

Benefit rock and blues concert will help stock the pantry at the New Life Center.

in Plainview is known for its great acoustics and has been home a wide range of concerts over the years.

But Thursday's outdoor event on the lawn is something special: Good Shepherd will host a free blues and rock concert July 19 at 7:30 p.m. to help stock the pantry at the New Life Center in Uniondale.

The band "Ripp Tide" will perform the concert on the church's expansive lawn. Those attending are asked to bring items that can make an immediate difference in people's lives. They include non-perishable foods, such as boxes of pasta and canned foods. A more extensive list is in a PDF file attached to this story.

Operated through Lutheran Social Services, the New Life Center provides for all in need a food pantry, new mothers’ program, adoption information, holiday gift baskets for families in need, and necessary items that infants & young children need.

The Good Shepherd community is inviting your friends, neighbors, congregants, and family to come as help them get the word out.

Good Shepherd is located at 99 Central Park Road in Plainview, just south of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School. There's plenty of parking.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
