Innovative Educational Programs at PJC

The Plainview Jewish Center has a great fall lineup of adult educational programs.

On Wednesday Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. join Rabbi Steven Conn for a Special "Lunch and Learn" in the Sukkah.

This program will have stimulating study, good food and good company. Please RSVP to the Temple office by the Monday preceding this monthly event. Suggested donation is $5 per person. This is usually held on the second Wednesday of the month.

Prefer and evening hour of action, drama and excitement? This classic series has been delivering thrills for more than 2000 years. Join Rabbi Conn for all the action on selected Wednesday evenings at 8:15 p.m.

This program is open to all, just bring your Bible or use the study sheets provided in class, PJC leaders said.

No Hebrew is necessary. This month’s class will be on Wednesday Oct. 26.

Coming soon to the will be “Learning Services,” starting Nov. 12. These are designed to better understood Saturday morning services, where the pace is slower and members can interrupt the service and ask questions. The will hold these on selected Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. in the small chapel.

Following the services, participants can join the rest of the congregation for a special Kiddush.

The Institute of Adult Jewish Studies (IAJS) is a consortium of twelve synagogues, Reform, Conservative and Orthodox serving Northeast Nassau County. Starting in the fall each year on Monday evenings the IAJS offers 13 weeks of lectures by world-renowned speakers on a variety of Jewish-related subjects. This year’s classes will take place at the Jericho Jewish Center. Registration and first lecture will be on Oct. 24 and classes will begin on Oct. 31

Rabbi Conn will be teaching “The Jewish Lens,” a program based on an innovative program created by world renowned photographer Zion Ozeri. A digital camera is required for this course.

Join Rabbi Conn for “Text Study” most Shabbat afternoons between the Mincha (afternoon) and Ma’ariv (evening) service.
