New Leadership for Plainview Little League

For the first time in its history, the Plainview Little League has a woman at the helm.

For the first time in its history, the has a female president.

She's Maria Pascarella, of Old Bethpage, who will take office at the League's October Board meeting.

The Plainview Baseball Association, founded in 1954, offers baseball and softball programs for residents of the Plainview Old Bethpage community.  There are programs for Little League for ages 4-12, Senior League for ages 13-16 and the Challenger Division, which provides a baseball environment for children of all ages with special needs.

The organization provides intramural programs in the Spring and Fall as well as a Summer travel program. There are both non-competitive and competitive divisions which begin with a co-ed “Little Hawks” division where 4- and 5-year-old children are introduced to the basics of playing baseball.  

Pascarella is from Franklin Square and played high school softball for Kellenberg Memorial H.S.

She moved to Old Bethpage in 2004 and, four years later, began coaching T-Ball for her daughter. She joined the board and then coached her son's team in the Lil Hawks program in 2011, jointly with her husband, Phil.

She has served in a wide variety of capacities in the league, and received the Service with Distinction Award from the PLL in 2009, and 2010.

Pascarella has worked at a local branch of since 2001. She Lives in Old Bethpage with her husband, 8-year-old daughter, and 5-year old son.

She is involved in the Old Bethpage PTA as the VP of Membership, class mother in the K-Center, at St. Pius as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, as well as other ministries and charitable organizations.
