Photo of the Day: Garlic Harvest

Another great shot from the Old Bethpage Village Restoration of a working 19th Century farm.

Even this early in summer, there was a harvest at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration Farm.

Volunteers picked organically grown garlic, which is later bundled, tied and hung to cure in a barn at the farm.

In the attached photo, you can see the stalks of garlic in this woman's hand as she walks through the field.

Patch reader Haylee Grote submitted this latest photo. The Grote Family of Farmingdale is one of many local families who take part in the Restoration Farm at Old Bethpage.

The certified organic farm is located on the grounds of Nassau County’s Old Bethpage Village Restoration. The privately managed operation produces vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs for sale to the public.
