Community Corner

Relay for Life Coming to Plainview

Plainview-Old Bethpage community works together for the American Cancer Society.

has kicked off again in Plainview and there are several ways to get involved.

The national event, which benefits the American Cancer Society, is held overnight and includes an all night walk and a salute to cancer survivors. This year, the Plainview-Old Bethpage community has chosen a Carnival theme for the night, with bands, a DJ, and plenty of fun. In addition, luminary bags, which will circle the track, are available for $10 each or 3 for $25. Community members looking to help out can join a team or make a donation at www.relayforlife.org/plainviewoldbethpageny.

The night’s events include the all night relay walk, plus activities like t-shirt painting, karaoke, and games for families. Founded in 1985, the event now counts over 4,000 participants nationwide every year. The Plainview-Old Bethpage group has a list of events scheduled leading up to their big event on June 11.
