It's just one example of the many programs that 's Sisterhood offers members of the Old Bethpage congregation.
Recently, the Sisterhood sponsored a class on creating colorful fruit bouquets.
Elizabeth Kratz, a graduate of the Center for Kosher Culinary Arts School in
Brooklyn who teaches cold food preparation classes throughout New York and
New Jersey, was the instructor.
Those attending were taught how to plan and design bouquets made out of honeydews, cantaloupes, grapes pineapples and strawberries.
First, shapes were carefully cut out of each fruit and then placed on skewers. Next, heads of lettuce were trimmed and placed into wide mouthed vases. Finally, the skewers were placed into the lettuce heads and their beautiful creations were ready.
Each participant received written instructions so they could recreate their
beautiful, edible projects at home.
