It was a great day for a walk and a great idea to raise money for a worthy cause. It all came together as part of the on Sunday in Plainview.
Hundreds of volunteers laced up their sneakers and took a stroll from the to the , with all proceeds raised going to both , which fall under the NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities) umbrella. NORC provides an array of medical and social services for seniors in the Plainview-Old Bethpage community.
Upon arriving at the 'Y', folks could speak with representatives from the many senior services in the area who helped sponsor the event. In addition, an an art and photography exhibit offered a crash course in local over the last 60 years.
Community calendars from the 60's, archival photos of Plainview, even newspaper clippings highlighting then-Vice President Nixon's visit to town were some of the artifacts on display.
