Great fall weather is on tap as the Hawks take on Massapequa this afternoon.

Plainview has a chance today to root on their in perfect fall weather as the Hawks enter playoff competition for the first time in eight years..

1. For the first time in eight years, Plainview Coach Christine Ho and the JFK boys soccer team are headed to the playoffs. The Hawks host Massapequa at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the high school on Kennedy Drive, just off Washington Avenue. See our coverage of the game.

2. The holds its first annual "Meet the young Adults Night" Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The free event at the includes food provided by La Bottega restaurant of Plainview and is open to the public. The group offers a chance for young adults to meet several candidates and discuss the issues pertinent to this up-and-coming generation of Long Islanders. See here.

3. Our contest concluded Monday. The national winners will be announced soon, but it's not too late to submit great photos from Halloween parties and trick or treating around Plainview. Send them to joe.dowd@patch.com and we'll upload them .

4. The hosts , Seniors Life Coach & Motivational Speaker, in a multimedia presentation exploring seniors' attitudes and experiences on re-entering the social scene. She provides ideas and suggestions about new ways of finding companionship and/or love again. Free and open to the public. 7:30 p.m.
