Long Island Fair Opens Friday in Old Bethpage

Here's a look at the week ahead in Plainview:

1. The Long Island Fair opens Friday at the Old Bethpage Restoration Village and runs for two consecutive weekends. The festival offers a range of attractions, including exotic animals, prize-winning livestock, carnival rides and traditional live music. Details here.

2. Plainview's elementary schools are hosting back to school night at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

3. The Plainview Library hosts a film and discussion entitled: "The Weight of our Nation: Children in Crisis." The program runs from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

4. Also at the library, there's a computer class for adult beginners on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. $5 registration.
