Here's a look at the shortened week ahead in the Plainview area:

1. Students return to school Tuesday after the Martin Luther King holiday.

2. They very well be out of school tomorrow; a major winter storm is headed to the East Coast and could drop up to 6 inches of snow on Long Island. The storm is forecast to begin here after noon and continue into the night. Patch will keep you posted.

3. Would you like to know the weekend Mass schedule at St. Pius X R.C. Church? The congregation was kind enough to post it here.

4. Did you know you can promote your own business or community institution on Patch. Simply click here and submit your post. It's totally free; there is no catch, other than signing in with your email. That's it.

5. Today's expected snow storm will be followed by more snow tonight and biter cold. The cold spell is forecast to continue through the end of the week, the National Weather Service says.
