Years ago a neighbor of mine got a new puppy for Easter. I thought the thing was one of the bunniesRead More destroying my vegetable garden. So add to this list "shot for looking like a rabbit" and please make sure you tell your neighbors you just got a new puppy. Easter has never been the same for either of us. Very sad.

I served on a jury for an assault involving biting that left a permanent scar on the victims hand.Read More It wasn't just a bite but a ripping. This 'bleeding heart liberal' voted for conviction and led the jury to see this as egregious and requiring that we do convict. That's the price of being an adult human being, to do the hard thing when necessary.

the database of town/city names is being flagrantly abused. 'nearby ness' of these places hasRead More seemingly lost the context of the state parameter. remember, The Patch is now run/owned/controlled/abused by some guy by the name of Hale, who apparently could give a flea's poop about the end user. http://streetfightmag.com/2014/03/06/new-patch-owner-running-company-in-lean-entrepreneurial-mode/

Kudos. More judges need to speak up, and I bet it will happen, too. Every state should have capitalRead More punishment. Some people are not people; they're evil monsters and have no place here.

Ridiculous. People need to read the book I had to read for my MSW program at the University of IowaRead More School of Social Work, "The Rich Get Richer and the Poor Get Prison." Matt Taibbi wrote an update (as wealth inequity and white-collar crime continue unabated and unconsequented) called "The Divide," which says much the same thing, and I'm anxious to read it. Wall Street CEOs can still millions and billions of dollars and not one of them goes to prison. In fact, they're laughing all the way to the bank. Yet this poor schmuck gets a free 89-cent refill and it costs him hundreds of dollars. Maybe things will have to get worse before people wake up and smell the coffee!

Why have the drink fountain accessible to patrons if they aren't allowed to refill? Why not fillRead More the drink behind the counter so there is no confusion? You typically put the fountain out in front of the counter and allow patrons to fill their own cups when there are free refills. This incident is arguably entrapment.

A horse and carriage ride in a park, fine. But not on busy, crowded city streets. It's cruel to theRead More horse and dangerous to everyone else. I'm with the NYC mayor on this one.

When taxes are imposed on various industries then to stay in business the prices increase on theRead More consumer! Obamacare , gas taxes, payroll taxes, tolls, the proposed soda and candy tax , your tobacco tax is 75% of what the product really costs! Commercial Property tax increases! Do you people see what's going on here? This country is being destroyed by the Democrats! It is starting to resemble The a Soviet Union! We should change the name of this country to the USSA!

Yes, cb, I think they could come up with some other catchy names for various crack-downs on the taxRead More paying public. How about "Click-it-or-Ticket Week" or "Text Week" or "No-Right-On- Red Week" or "PBA Week" etc, etc. This way you could stay home the week of your biggest weakness.

cb, maybe they should put speed cameras on every road and ticket everyone that drives 1 mile perRead More hour over the speed limit. Maybe they should take it a step further and monitor every single vehicle for location and speed and store it so they can find patterns in everyone's behavior and ticket even more efficiently. All of that would be completely free of charge, of course, because it doesn't cost anything to constantly police roadways.

I wonder when they plan on putting the CIA on trial for conspiracy to distribute these drugs...orRead More when they plan on going after the big pharma companies that are the main buyers of the product they're trying to get rid of. With everything the way it is, it is hard to believe that big government and big pharma is not colluding to produce huge profits at the expense of the addicts they cultivate. Look up zohydro...a drug ten times stronger than oxycontin. We have enough problems with oxy, why would you multiply that problem by ten?

We need bomb-sniffing police dogs or military dogs. We also need to make the FBI accountable forRead More their failure to follow up on Russian warnings that Tamerlan Tsarnaeyev was being radicalized. The real jihadist in the family was the Tsarnaeyev's brothers' mother. The Russians knew that but didn't send the video proving it to the FBI. Even so, they told the FBI enough that they should have been on their trail, and the FBI blew it. And why weren't they on top of the former Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan who shot to death three non-Jews in an anti-semitic attempt to kill Jews in Overland Park? Why do we allow so much surveillance of citizens when the results are so disappointing? It's not like the FBI is getting the job done. They miss a lot of really big, obvious targets.
