Two Men Face Robbery Charges In Broadway Mall Theft

Confrontation with Macy's security leads to arrests.

An altercation between two men and two security guards at Macy's in the Broadway Mall has led to the arrest of two Brooklyn men.

Theodis A. Cole, 36 of Albany Avenue and Omar O. Sharpe, 36 of Rutland Road were spotted just before 4 p.m. Friday by Macy's store security concealing an unknown amount of clothing in a bag, police said.

As the defendants left the store, two security officers tried to detain them in the parking lot. Sharpe fled with the proceeds on foot southbound through the parking lot, while Cole struggled with the security officers from stopping Sharpe, police said.

As the security officers where escorting Cole back to Macy’s he began to kick and punch one of them, causing a minor laceration to his hand, police said. Second Precinct Officers arrived and placed Cole under arrest.

Officers from the Bureau of Special Operations responded to the Hicksville Long Island Rail Road station where they located Sharp and placed him under arrest without incident.

The proceeds were recovered, police said.

The two men face robbery charges and were scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday.
