Plainview To Host Championship Jockeys Tuesday

In advance of Saturday's Belmont Stakes, some of America's top jockeys will sign autographs and pose for pictures.

Several top-flight thoroughbred jockeys will be in Plainview Tuesday in advance of the 145th running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday.

The group will be available for autographs and photos at The Race Palace, 1600 Round Swamp Road, in Plainview, from 6-7 p.m. The Nassau OTB's facility is just off the Long Island Expressway.

Nassau OTB will present a donation to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund in honor of the event.

Among the biggest names coming to Plainview is jockey Joel Rosario, who rode Orb to a spectacular late-driving win in the Kentucky Derby last month. Orb is scheduled to face Preakness winner Oxbow in Saturday's showdown in Elmont. The 145th renewal of the mile-and-and-a-half classic could draw 15 horses to the race and more than 50,000 people to Belmont Park.

Top New York riders Javier Castellano and Junior Alvarado will be joined by rising stars Irad Ortiz Jr. and Jose Ortiz, OTB officials announced.
